Rare Item Codes
One of the unique parts of Neopets Merchandise is that most items come with a Virtual Prize Code (this term is interchangable with Rare Item Code) that when entered on Neopets.com awards a virtual prize!

The Currently Available Items page shows which items you can buy right now come with codes, and each individual items page shows if it comes with a code and what possible virtual items it can award.

11/30/2024 Update: An update made to the Grundo Warehouse during the weekend of November 30th introduced a new bug that will cause you to get a blank screen. See below for details.
Overview
Codes that come with current merch are made up of fifteen characters, and the first four signify what Code Pool it comes from. Once you've found your code (usually on or in the product. Geekify emails their codes after purchase) take it to the Grundo Warehouse on the Virtupets Space Station to redeem it.
Please see below for exceptions.
Enter the code and hit "Get your Virtual Item!" and Gilroy the Grundo will bring you a fantastic prize from the Warehouse.
What gets entered where
Most codes get entered at the Grundo Warehouse
KeyQuest Code redemption was disabled when the game shut down. KeyQuest codes may no longer be redeemed.
Wizards of the Coast TCG Codes get entered at the TCG hub (see below for details.)
Enterplay Fun Pak trading card codes (except for the KeyQuest Code Card, see above) get entered at the Grundo Warehouse, see below for details.
Codes from the Leapfrog Didj Game Neopets: Quizaras Curse get entered on a special page.
Neopets Puzzle Adventure codes are no longer valid and may no longer be redeemed, but were entered on a special page.
McDonald's, Burger King, and Kruidvat codes had their own individual redemption pages, but they have since been disabled. These codes may no longer be redeemed.
Codes earned from playing with your Pocket Neopet are no longer valid and may no longer be redeemed. These codes were redeemed at Grundo Warehouse on a separate form that has since been removed.
Many Pocket Neopets included a trading card in each package that also included a code. We believe these still work, but don't have any to confirm.
Gateway/Memory Error
Often when you enter a code (8 out of 10 times) you will receive a blank white screen with an error message similar to the one below. (This is sometimes referred to as the "gateway error" because a previous version of the error message was labelled as such.)
This is a known issue and TNT is actively working on a resolution. Many times, even though you receive this message, the virtual item is still awarded. Simply check your inventory. If the item is not there, just refresh the page, or re-enter the code. Continue doing so until the item appears in your inventory. You may receive a "code has already been used" error message on subsequent entries of the code. This typically means the item was awarded on the previous refresh, and you'll find it in your inventory.
Unfortunately, this error will prevent you from receiving the Space Faerie as a Battledome Challenger as the page needs to properly load for the (backend) code that awards her to trigger. As noted, TNT is aware of this issue and actively working on a fix, but at present, Support is unable to award the Space Faerie Challenger manually.
Blank Page Error
Around November 29th, 2024, an update was made to the Grundo Warehouse (in an attempt to fix the above) which introduced a new bug. When the Grundo Warehouse page does actually load, there is something that is causing the text on the page to fail, so you will get a blank page similar to the one below. This could mean multiple things. The code worked (it's in your inventory), the code was already used, or the code was invalid. Unfortunately because no text is being displayed, there's no way to tell which of those messages you were supposed to receive.
Best thing you can do is verify you are entering the code correctly and try it again. (0s are numbers with very few exceptions - see below if you have a code from It's My Obsession) If after multiple attempts you do not have an item, put in a Support ticket selecting "Item Code Redemption Issues" for the category and be sure to include your username, your code, a photo of the code if possible, and the item that the code came with.
The Space Faerie will still be granted on this page (you will see her if so) if the code worked properly and the message you would have been receiving was the item you got.
Wizards of the Coast Trading Cards
Wizards of the Coast TCG codes get entered at the TCG hub. They require flash or the equivalent in order to be redeemed.
The Ruffle Extension will work for this, but you will need to have it installed in your device. (the version installed on neopets.com is not set to work on the redemption page.) You will be presented with multiple options and ultimately you will need to choose which type of item you want to receive.
These codes do not award the Space Faerie Battledome Challenger.
Enterplay Fun Pak Trading Cards
Enterplay Fun Pak Trading Card codes (with the exception of the KeyQuest Code Card, which can no longer be redeemed) are entered at the Grundo Warehouse. These codes operate a similar to the WotC TCG codes in that they require flash or the equivalent in order to be redeemed.
The Ruffle Extension will work for this, but you will need to have it installed in your device. (the version installed on neopets.com is not set to work on the redemption page.) You will be presented with multiple options and ultimately you will need to choose which type of item you want to receive.
Universal Codes - Contests/AMAS/Limited Time Events
Occassionally Neopets will award universal rare item codes as part of limited time events, such as during their monthly AMA livestreams. The Neopets Books also include universal codes. Universal codes are sometimes only available to be redeemed for a limited time and each person may redeem them once. (They may not be redeemed on side accounts.)
These codes are considered "universal" because everyone is entering the same code, as opposed to random. These codes are processed differently on the back end, and as such, do not suffer from the error/blank screen issues above, and also do not award the Space Faerie Challenger.
It's My Obsession Codes
All codes from It's My Obsession start MO0 (M, Capital Letter O, Number zero) but in some cases it's hard to differentiate the two Os
What if I didn't get my code?
First, find the item in our Catalogue and ensure it comes with a code. (there are two different Tarot Decks and only one version comes with a code, for example)
Upper Deck - There is not a code in every Booster Pack. you will find an average (no guarantee) of 1 in 24 packs of Defenders of Neopia and an average (no guarantee) of 1 in 8 in 25th Anniversary Expansion. The Celebration Box does not come with it's own code (but includes 12 booster packs, which may have one) Battledome TCG Starter Decks have a sticker attached to the plastic
that is wrapped around the cards with a code that awards an avatar. Upper Deck is aware of a production issue where the stickers were omitted from some decks. If your Starter Deck does not have a sticker, send an email to QA@upperdeck.com with your name, address, which box(es) you bought and proof of purchase, and they will mail you a code.
Holographic Sticker Packs - the code is printed on the bottom of the Group Pets Virtual Prize Code Sticker (the last sticker in every pack)What's Your Passion - codes are stuck to the back of the items. The only exception is the Anniversary Tumblers. Those codes will be emailed to you after shipment. If you're missing a code, reply to your order confirmation email and let them know, and they will get you sorted.
Geekify Inc. - codes are emailed after items have shipped. This typically happens once a week. if after a week of having your items you have not received your codes, reply to your order confirmation email and let them know, and they will get you sorted.
What if it doesn't work?
If you've tried all of the above steps and even after refreshing multiple times still do not have an item, or if you are unable to read your code for any reason, put in a Support ticket selecting "Item Code Redemption Issues" for the category and be sure to include your username, your code, a photo of the code if possible, and the item that the code came with.
