JAKKS Pacific Products
In early 2008 JAKKS Pacific started releasing their line of Neopets Toys. The first series of Plushies were released in February exclusively at Target stores (coinciding with a sweepstakes on Neopets.com to award limited edition plushies) and each included a Rare Item Code that unlocked a virtual item and a Key Quest token featuring the same species/colour as the plush. (unfortunately when Key Quest was discontinued redemption for these codes was taken offline).
The plushies, including many other exclusives, were rolled out at many other stores through the course of that year. Neopets PVC figures and playsets followed in the spring. The end of the year brought the first series of jumbo plushies.
Other items, including stationery, followed. Ultimately the line was discontinued as many of the major retailers had stopped selling the product and the sales just weren't there. This means that some of the later items are a lot rarer, as there was much less available.
